Sarnano is an Italian spa with almost 3500 inhabitants in the province of Macerata in the Marche region. Its water should be a boon for a number of ailments, including gout, arthritis and liver disease. The municipality is situated approximately 31.5 km south-southwest of Macerata. Equally far is the distance to Ascoli Piceno. Sarnano is part of the Comunità Montana dei Monti Azzurri and is adjacent to the Province of Fermo.
The silent, medieval old town, which is dominated by two towers, is located above the New Town. A steep winding road leads up to the charming little Piazza Alta. It is flanked by the Church of Santa Maria Assunta and several medieval public buildings (Palazzo del Popolo, with its beautifully decorated gothic-Romanesque portal, the Torre Civica, the Palazzo dei Priori, and the Palazzetto of the Podestà).
From Piazza della Libertà (New Town) performs a wide, well-paved road up to the Sasso Tetto (12 km). There is one of the major ski resorts in the Marche region, with many ski lifts.
